Forty minutes from the city. A world away from it.

Leave the city at the junction

Cardiff has studios on its doorstep, so why drive out to Usk? Most of my Cardiff clients tell me the same thing: privacy.

The Cowshed is a converted barn at the end of a private drive, with the River Usk on its border. There’s no shared building, no reception desk and no chance of bumping into someone from work in the lift. It’s just you, me and the countryside for as long as your session lasts.

That distance does something too. By the time you’ve left the M4, the to-do list has usually gone quiet. Women arrive calmer than they expected, and that shows in their photographs.

Getting here from Cardiff

Route: M4 east to junction 24, then the A449 north to Usk. Around 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

Parking: free, right outside the door. Level, step-free access.

Tip: book a Tuesday or Wednesday. You’ll miss the worst of the M4 traffic and save £50.

Bridal boudoir for Cardiff brides

If you’re getting married in or around Cardiff, a bridal boudoir album makes a beautiful gift to open on the morning of the wedding. Book three to six months ahead to leave time for your album to be made.

Bring your veil, something borrowed or his shirt. We’ll plan your outfits together beforehand, so nothing is left to chance.

Your experience

Four experiences, from a one-hour Confidence session at £295 to the Ultimate Goddess at £1,495, with make-up, your full gallery and a mini session for a friend. Every session includes guided posing from start to finish, so you’ll never wonder what to do with your hands.

I was so nervous on the drive to the studio, but was welcomed with a huge smile and a glass of prosecco. A few moments later it felt like I'd known Liz for years.

Questions from Cardiff clients

Is there a boudoir studio closer to Cardiff?
Yes, there are studios in the city. Women choose The Cowshed for the privacy, the countryside setting and a female photographer who takes her time. Most say the drive is part of the experience. It also gives you time to reflect on how you feel and savour the experience on the way home.

Can I come by train?
The nearest mainline station is Newport, about 20 minutes from the studio by taxi. Let me know your train time and I’ll help you plan.

Can I get ready at home?
Of course. If you’re doing your own hair and make-up please come ready. If you are booking make-up and/or hair, it’s done at the studio.
